wonderland was merciful in that it let her keep her memories, and so iris remembers very clearly clementine's quiet remark about loving to draw and paint before the apocalypse. and there is no doubt that experiences like those would have changed clementine forever, but that doesn't mean all needs to be lost, yes?
at the very least, she wanted to give clementine something that might help her know where to start.
[lbr, the best christmas gift is getting iris back, but it's also wonderful to have reminders about life, about living, about more than surviving. she'll use the hell out of the art set. iris is warmth, good. she doesn't see survival as the ultimate only goal, and it's important for her to be close to someone like that, to be able to connect to someone like that.
clementine is a child of the 90s, and while the apocalypse might've stopped the 90's groove, she remembers charm bracelets being popular. she always wanted one because she wanted the little charms on them to show what someone loves, who they are. she's still trying to figure that out herself, but she spoke to barry after iris was gone. she's important to her, and clementine wants to express that in some way even if she still stumbles on the words of it or the how of it. she has to remember how to be affectionate, how to find the warmth that once came so easily to her.
she asks the closet for a charm bracelet that iris would love (which means ella you get to choose your fave) and then places a charm on it which represents journalism and a charm which represents... them, the two of them. it's a star because iris helped her paint stars into her room even if her walls will also now have the names of people she's lost. that's right too. the bracelet's all wrapped up (poorly) in a box with a note attached to the top of it. i missed you when you were away, and i'm really happy you're back. it feels like i can really celebrate christmas now maybe. i have one of these of my own so we can match sometimes if you want. from: clementine. her own bracelet has the one singular star charm on it too. ]
